What We're All About
Thank you all so much for your prayers for us here at Maranatha Baptist Mission, Inc. God still answers the prayers of His people.
The Maranatha Baptist Mission, Inc. is a ministry of the Victory Baptist Church, (formally West Side Baptist Church) of Natchez, Mississippi. It is supported by the free-will offerings of churches and individuals who have a burden to help get missionaries to the mission fields of the world.
Maranatha Baptist Mission, Inc. is a non-profit religious corporation under the laws of the State of Mississippi.
Maranatha Baptist Mission seeks to provide a channel through which local churches can extend their missionary efforts around the world by direct support of separated, soul-winning missionaries. We believe that in conformity with the Scriptural example of Acts 13, it is the function of the local church to authorize and send forth her own missionaries. It is our policy to encourage and promote that principle. Therefore, every missionary candidate, to become eligible for appointment under our Mission, must be a member of and commissioned by a local New Testament church. Thus, there is established and maintained a vital relationship between the missionary on the field and his home church. Every authorizing and every supporting church, as well as every missionary, becomes an integral part of the Maranatha Baptist Mission family, and establishes a modern operation of the Scriptural method of missionary enterprise.
How can you help?
First, by praying for the missionaries!
1) Find out all you can about the missionary for whom you are praying.
2) Pray regularly.
3) Be specific in you prayer. Pray for the missionaries by name.
4) Try to anticipate the needs of the missionaries.
a) Spiritual needs; physical needs; emotional needs; family needs; and financial needs.
5) Be persistent and persevering in prayer.
Pray fervently for our Mission, the missionaries, their workers, the fields, and our staff at the Home Office. God will continue to bless Maranatha Baptist Mission, Inc., to the extent that Christians are faithful in the ministry of intercessory prayer. This, then, could be your greatest contribution. Remember the Words of our Lord when He said, ...ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full" (John 16:24).
Send for our paper, MARANATHA!!! We must have one love offering each year to help with the expense of publishing and mailing it. Why not send a love offering for friends and/or relatives in order that their names may be added to the mailing list and receive the paper for a year!
Surrender to God's call and go to the field He indicates.
Have a Mission Conference in your church. Give financially that others may hear the Gospel through a missionary, or other ministries of our Mission.
May the Lord bless you as you serve Him.
On March 30, 2008, we, the members of Victory Baptist Church, extended the call to Bro. Gerald W. Anglin to come and be our pastor and the president of Maranatha Baptist Mission. Bro. Gerald accepted the pastorate April 3, 2008.
We are very happy that we have a new pastor. Please continue to pray for us. There is such a work to do in our field of labor.
A note from our pastor, Bro. Gerald:
For the last thirty seven years my family and I have been missionaries. We served in Mexico and Colombia, South America and here in the States. God is so good to have called us into His service.
Victory Baptist Church of Natchez, MS has called me to come as pastor and president of Maranatha Baptist Mission. It is a great honor to preach where great men of God have preached. I am excited about the ministry of the Church and the Mission. Please be assured that both the Church and Maranatha Baptist Mission have weathered the storm and have come out on the other side with a sweet spirit and a willingness to take up the cross and follow the Lord Jesus Christ!
